Every year at Memorial Day my husband's side of the family gets together for what we call the "Boys' Birthday Weekend." My husband's birthday is in May, his brother's is in June, and his step-father's is in April, so we lump them all together and have one HUGE party!! This year we decided on a circus theme. It was great fun - the kids (there are six kids ranging in age from 2-7) decorated a "ticket booth" and made paper money so that the grown-ups could buy tickets for the circus. I set up several game stations in the backyard with different activities for the kids to do: bean bag toss, water squirting game, tightrope walk, etc, and each station had prizes that the kids could put in their goodie bags. Afterwards the kids dressed up the birthday boys as clowns before they opened their presents. (Very appropriate!) We had hot dogs and pasta salad for dinner, plus plenty of cotton candy, not to mention ice cream cake for dessert! At the end of the party the kids got to take the clown wigs and accessories home to play dress-up with. A fun time was had by all!
