I enjoyed making these Yo Gabba Gabba cupcakes for my friend's daughter Sophia, who turned 3 on Saturday. They are chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream frosting and fondant decorations. The birthday girl's dad made the goody bags - aren't they cute? Maybe I should hire him, hee hee!!

My youngest daughter is turning 4 next week, and today we celebrated her birthday with a Dora-themed party. I made a 6-inch round layer cake (so we'd have a cake to put her birthday candles in) as well as 12 cupcakes (for the party guests to eat.) BONUS: I got to use my cool cake stand that my dad made for me!! Anyway, it was funfetti cake (at the birthday girl's request!) with vanilla buttercream frosting and fondant decorations. The Dora and Swiper figures on the top of the cake are toys. The cake was a hit, and tasted yummy too!
I know it sounds like I say this about every single cake I make, but I had SO MUCH FUN decorating this cake!!! I just loved everything about it - the colors, the style, the decorations - all of it! It was chocolate cake with chocolate filling, frosted with vanilla buttercream and tricked out with decorations made of fondant and gumpaste. I especially loved the curly cake wires sticking out of it - I think Duff Goldman would be proud!!!
